What is the history of Acura Columbus? Acura Columbus was started in 1986 and it was the first Acura store to open in the State of Ohio.  Acura Columbus has always been a family business and it is our only store.  We do all we can to make your experience special at Acura Columbus.

Why are you not open on Sunday? Everyone needs time to decompress and spend time with friends and family.  It is nice to be able to have at least one day off a week where we can all relax.  Please know that if you need to reach us on Sunday, it is really simple.  Just text us at 614-761-1222 or email us at help@acuracolumbus.com or email the owner at johnconnelly@acuracolumbus.com.  Our website is also open 24/7 and you can buy parts and accessories online, schedule service or even buy a car online at any time on any day.  Not bad for being closed!

What safety precautions are Acura Columbus taking due to Covid-19?

Acura Columbus is focused on keeping our customers and employees safe within our dealership and when driving our vehicles. We have taken the precautions listed below, and are updating and improving our processes as we learn more from the CDC and State of Ohio recommendations.

  • Using a sanitizing fogger solution to disinfect vehicles before and after service, as well as test drives.
  • Applying plastic steering wheel covers, seat covers, and floor mats.
  • Limiting the number of waiter appointments in store
  • Working to clean shared surfaces such as table, chairs, counter tops, multiple times a day and between customer use. 
  • Furniture has been rearranged to support social distancing.
  • We have masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and gloves readily available for customers and employees around the dealership.
  • Remote test drives, service appointments, and even vehicle delivery options are available for customers that prefer not to visit the store at all.

    What do I need to do if I want to test drive a vehicle? You can request a test drive online by clicking HERE, or simply call or text 614-761-1222 and we can get you connected with a Sales Consultant who will schedule everything accordingly. 

    Will you send me a video of any car that I would like more information about? Absolutely! From Sales to Service, we love video at Acura Columbus. You can request a video walk-around right from our website, or text 614-761-1222 with your request, and we will get it over to you.

    Can a car be brought to me for a test drive? Yes! There may be some exclusions depending on how far you are from the dealership, but we will do our best to bring the car to you and make the test drive process easy!

    Do you sell the Acura NSX? Yes! We may have an NSX in stock but typically customers prefer to order and build their own personalized Acura NSX. To start your order or get more information, click HERE!

    Do you offer home delivery for new and used cars? Yes! Once we finalize all the details for your purchase we would be happy to arrange a home delivery. Your sales person can setup all the details. Depending on your distance from the dealership a mileage charge may be assessed.

    Can I purchase the service loaner car that I am driving? The short answer is yes. However, it will depend on how long the car has been in loaner service. Once a vehicle is placed into our loaner fleet, we are required to keep the vehicle in loaner service for a minimum of 3 months. If you are interested in purchasing one of our loaner vehicles, contact our sales department and they can give you all the options!

    If I travel from out-of-state to purchase or service a vehicle at Acura Columbus, are there any hotels nearby? Yes! We have multiple hotel options in the area, but there are two hotels literally within steps of the dealership. Click here to see the options!

    New Sales Questions

    Can I lease a new car from Acura Columbus? Absolutely! Over half of the new car customers we serve at Acura Columbus lease their vehicles. We have new lease specials and incentives released every month, so we will always work to get you the best lease payment we can.

    What is ASPEC? Acura's A-Spec option is a package level available on ILX, TLX, RDX, and MDX models offering a variety of sportier interior and exterior details. Some of these sporty features might include limited paint colors, red interior seats, sporty wheel and body trim options, and more. Depending on the model, the Aspec package may include upgraded features such as cooled seats. 

    What is Type S? Acura's Type-S models are similar to the A-Spec package in that these packages include a further variety of premium sport interior and exterior options. However, the Type-S is the next step up from A-spec in terms of the overall performance options Acura has to offer. Type-S models will come with enhanced engine options, as well as the premium interior and exterior options. The Type-S package was introduced in 2000 on the TL Type-S model, and was last seen in 2008. It will be returning to the 2021 TLX and 2022 MDX models this year! 

    What is the difference between FWD and AWD, and what is SH-AWD? FWD stands for Front Wheel Drive, meaning the power is being delivered to the front wheels of the vehicle. AWD stands for All Wheel Drive, meaning the power is being delivered to all the wheels. 

    SH-AWD differs from a conventional AWD system by incorporating a special electromagnetic clutch mechanism for the rear wheels. This clutch mechanism is electronically controlled, allowing the SH-AWD system to alter torque delivery to the rear wheels at all times. Acura's SH-AWD system helps to deliver better traction and grip. It also improves handling and stability on all types of roads and in any weather condition.

    Do Acuras have Apple Car Play and Android Auto? Yes! New Acuras now all come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even Alexa integration built in.

    What is the difference between an extended service contract and a maintenance plan contract? An extended service contract will help cover you for mechanical breakdowns on your vehicle. A maintenance plan will help keep your Acura running smooth by covering the routine maintenance at a reduced and locked price.     What is GAP? Peace of mind if you have a total loss on your vehicle. GAP waives the balance due on your financed contract that is not covered by the value of your vehicle prior to loss. Click here to view the details!

    How does remote financing work? If you are interested in remote financing, you just need to let your sales person know and they can connect you with one of our Business Managers. They can always be reached at finance@acuracolumbus.com. 

    They will collect all the necessary information to set up your vehicle purchase, and arrange a time for a video conference to review all the paperwork and options to protect your purchase. Depending on how and where you are financing your purchase the process may be slightly different, but we will complete as much of the paperwork as possible electronically. Any remaining documents and signatures that need to be reviewed can be completed during the delivery of the vehicle to your desired location.

    Service Questions

     How does pick up and drop off work for Service? You can schedule your valet appointment online or by calling or texting 614-761-1222. We will set a date, time, and pick-up/drop-off location. 

    On the day of your appointment, you will receive a text or call to let you know our driver is on the way to your pick-up location. Once they arrive, they will complete a walk-around of your vehicle, collect a couple signatures and verify your appointment information. 

    We will then take your vehicle back to the dealership and complete the scheduled services. While your vehicle is at the dealership your advisor will stay in communication using phone, email, or text, and send you an electronic multipoint inspection and video to let you know any findings and recommendations for your vehicle. At that point you can approve or decline these recommendations from your computer or phone, and pay your bill online. 

    We will contact you again to let you know when your vehicle is on its way back to your drop-off location. We will hand you the keys, and that's it! You can get your vehicle service without missing a beat in your busy day.

    How do I qualify for a loaner car? Any service over 2 hours will allow for a Loaner Vehicle during scheduling.

    Can I purchase the service loaner car that I am driving? The short answer is yes. However, it will depend on how long the car has been in loaner service.     How do I find out if my car has a recall? Our scheduling system will let you know about any open recall for your vehicle as long as you have the VIN number available. You can also click here to visit the Acura Recall site, and check for open recalls anytime. 


    What does a Shop Supplies charge cover on my repair order? According to the National Automotive Dealer Association, the following list of items comprise the shop supplies and materials that are found necessary to charge to customers. These items are purchased in bulk quantity and only a small portion is charged per repair in ratio to the portion used of complete bulk items. This method of operation is more reasonable and allows our dealership to use the best quality supplies on your vehicle at the least cost to you. 

    Penetration Oils, Polishes & Cleaners, Intake Cleaners, Rubbing Compound, Silicone Lubricants & Spray, Polishing Pads & Discs, Spray Grease, Lock Tite, Lock Ease, Adhesives, Glues, Wheel Weights, Cleaning Solvents, Front End Shims, Bolts, Washers & Nuts, Grease Fittings, Metal Fasteners, Masking Tape, Plastic Fasteners, Top-Off Fluids, Screws, Test Gases (propane), Pipe Fittings, Hacksaw Blades, Brass Fittings, Sandpaper, Rags, Oxygen, Fender Covers, Acetylene, Seat Covers, Welding Rods, Floor Mats, Electrical Tape, Soap, Electrical Connectors. 


    I lost my key fob -- what should I do? Call 614-761-2327, or text 614-761-1222 to speak with our Parts team. They can order you a new key fob if we don't already have it in stock and get you set up with a time to have it programmed to your vehicle. 

    My key fob battery is low - what should I do? Call 614-761-2327, or text 614-761-1222 to speak with our Parts team. During normal hours you can stop in without an appointment and visit our Parts Counter. Our parts representatives will be able to get you a new battery and place it in your key fob. 

    Some of our customers get concerned that when the battery dies to the key fob they will not be able to unlock or start their car. No worries! Your vehicle will still unlock and start even in the battery dies, you just have to be standing right next to the vehicle so that it will recognize the key and unlock by touching the handle.

    What is Dublin Service Direct? Dublin Service Direct is our way of taking the same great service experience you can always expect at Acura Columbus and bringing it directly to your doorstep and mobile device. This includes Pick-Up and Drop-Off Valet appointments, online bill-pay, online scheduling, video and electronic multi-point inspections, text communication, and more. Whatever we can do to make your service experience easier, we're going to try it!


    Can I drop off my car for Service 24/7? Yes, thanks to our 24/7 Express Key boxes! You can find these secured boxes located under the awning just outside of our service lane. The box labeled Key Drop, is obviously for dropping off keys anytime. We also have a Pick-Up key box, which will allow you to retrieve keys anytime with a 5-digit code that your advisor will give you once your service repairs and invoicing is complete.     What kind of oil do you use at Acura Columbus? Unlike some of our competitors, Acura Columbus uses Full Synthetic Oil for all of the vehicles we service. 


    What kind of filter do you use at Acura Columbus? Acura Columbus uses a genuine Acura oil filter for every oil change. 


    How often should I get an oil change? Acura's equipped with Maintenance Minder™ measures driving style, road conditions, and helps to notify you when scheduled maintenance is due. When you see the wrench, it's time for Acura Genuine Service! That being said, we typically see customers for their oil change services every 3000-7000 miles depending on their driving habits. 


    Do you offer Touchless service appointments? Yes! Check out this VIDEO! When you arrive, you can use our 24/7 Key Drop-Off and Pick-Up boxes to complete a No-Contact Appointment. If it is during business hours, just let our staff know that you want to do a No-Contact service.  

    Your appointment confirmation email will include a link at the bottom that will allow you to check-in for your appointment from your mobile device without coming into the store. If you text us at 614-761-1222 and let us know when you have dropped your keys, we will retrieve them and get the service process started. 

    We will keep in contact via phone, text, or email. You will receive an electronic multi-point inspection and video with any recommendations, which you can approve or decline from your phone. We'll send you an online bill pay request as well. 

    Once everything is done and payment has been received, we will send you a 5-digit key code that will allow you to get your keys from our Express Key Pick-Up box, and you can be on your way!
